Curriculum Vitae 21st Aug 2011

Born 02/08/71 – Belgravia, Westminster, London.

I never lie, and as such, I am happy to take a polygraph about absolutely anything you care to ask, this would be a new experience for me.

1981 – Code programmed Happy Birthday on a ZX 81 Computer at age 10

1985 – Passed Maths O level at 14. (Usual age 16)

Looked into enrolling at a pre Sandhurst, officer training school, desiring to join the SAS, but decided against it the following year.

1987 – Studied Graphic design at Reigate Art College

1988 - Studied Photography at North East Surrey College of Technology (2 years)

Founded Gothic Band “Taste of Seduction”. Sung, played guitar and programmed drums on an early Roland Drum machine, played one gig, terrible reviews but praise of drum programming.

Recorded one song “New Faith”

Made Manager of Perfect Pizza Franchise, (college side job)

1989 – Programmed a complete song on a Roland W 30 (The worlds first sampler and sequencer)
Worked out how to programme complex grove quantises with only numbers.

1990 – I become a Freelance Photographer, highlights: Two St Christopher’s Place Campaigns, and a Thomas Neil’s (Covent Garden) Campaign.

Went to Glastonbury Festival and changed music style from Gothic to Acid House, as it was fully made by Sequencer Samplers.

1994 – Started my second (more successful) Label D&G Records (House & Trance) 5 Releases

Signed a publishing deal, with BMG Music publishing.

1998 – Became DJ Magazine Official Chart contributor.

Released “Cross fader Dominator” (Break Beat) “Radio one Song of The Week”

Toured the UK and made the biggest mistake of my life, which was to allow the band to turn off the 30 or so synthesisers & samplers we brought to our first gig, in place of backing tapes, if only, we’d have played fully live we’d have been as famous as “The Chemical Brothers”, We were already tipped as the next big break beat band after “The Prodigy” & “The Chemical Brothers”

Learned, QuarkXPress and Photoshop

Assisted my Farther in his Graphic Design and Photography Business.

1999 – Signed to the cult label Rabid Badger, released Drag Step, this song was ahead of its time (fast dub step) my band refused to release it , but I swopped tapes (oop’s) Drag Step reached No1 in the Big/Break beat charts, 11 years before Dub Step became a mainstream musical sub culture.

Designed and released a 30 or so page brochure to the delight of Tecnik my Fathers biggest client. (My Father still talks about it today)

Visited Cape Town and decided to Emigrate. (This took 14 months, during which time I had to stay in England)

2000 - Married Kate Ball, previously Kate Thomson, the cleverest person I know. Double first from Cambridge, Senior Director, Universal Music Publishing, 50 Gold & Platinum disks, from” The Spice Girls” to “Fat Boy Slim”

“Cross fader Dominator” realised on FIFA Soccer 2000

Learnt Dreamweaver, Fireworks and Flash, successfully finding many bugs in Fire Works, so gaining the respect of the USA Development team.

Went to a Macromedia Lecture and saw a Virtual Tour in Director, I asked Macromedia if it could be done in Flash, they said “no, but maybe I could try to simulate it.”

Purchased about thirty Cape Town .com domain names,

Created a very detailed website www.CapeTownHoliday.com (I later lost the domain)

Subscribed to “Search Engine News “and avidly followed it.

Made a website for my father http://www.rayball.co.uk/ please have a look, its shows what I was doing with Flash 11 years ago. (Note all the keywords at the bottom, back in 2000 that’s all you needed to do, to get to No.1)

2001 – Received a 2 year permit to run by internet business Cape Go and Moved to Cape Town, South Africa.

Recruited and trained my first staff member Mike Enslin, who is still with me today.
Found a very poor version of a single rotating picture in an open source Flash site, hired a java script programmer, and created a smooth single image virtual tour, made in Flash. (One useful trick I discovered was to take a 1x200 pixel clip off the end of the image, and stretch it across, a background, which visually removed the join)

2002 – Created the Worlds first Virtual World/Tour in Flash by creating maps, and showing different 360 degree panoramic photographs from different positions. This was called “The Cape Town Guide” this is no longer on line but here is and adaptation. http://www.capevillas.com/CTG.shtml To see my favourite picture, click on Cape Town, just above the map and click the bottom camera icon on the Signal Hill/Lions Head mountain range , (this panorama is made of the 300 or so images I took from 12 pm to 6 am on top of Lions Head Mountain.)

Launched – www.CapeVillas.com my first database driven website

2003 - Started to create “The South African Guide” A pan African Virtual Tour/World, went to Johannesburg to meet an Investment company, but we did not have a particularly good income stream, like FaceBook, at first “It was simply cool”

Stayed in Johannesburg and teamed up with Dumani Mandela, (Nelson Mandela’s most professional Grandson), Chukka and Moweaqua Sisulu (Grandchildren of Walter Sisulu (Nelson Mandela’s Mentor)

Met with Multi Choice (South Africa’s only Satellite Network) and made an agreement to screen the “South African Guide” on their new Digital TV Channel

Had high level meetings with Galileo GDS regarding adding their XML feed (on line booking system) to “The South African Guide”

The South African Department of Trade and Industry, made an exception to the rule, where I needed to have invested $350,000 to renew my work permit, due to excellence in my field, stating “Cape Go had the potential to be one of Africa’s leading IT companies”

Ran out of development money and returned to Cape Town, to concentrate on my main Income source www.CapeVillas.com

2004 – Took long term leases and sublet 5 Cape Town Mansions

Started to introduce pastel accounting.

Won a legal case for a client, about a body corporate attempting to ban Holiday Lets, later I used this knowledge a number of times in future to fight cases, without legal assistance.

2005 – Setup an affiliate marketing system (As suggested by Web Guru Michael Campbell in 2000), by simply increasing the prices on the Villas we controlled by 20% and let Tour Operators & our competitors book them.

Withdrew from an expensive legal case I’d brought against a previous staff member regarding intellectual property and database theft, after reading case law for 2 day’s. The Case mainly failed as Affidavits, were not asked for by my attorney until after the plaintive was informed of the case, after which point they were intimidated by the plaintive.

The Lawyer then got a gangster to phone me, the day after I pulled out to make sure I paid the outstanding balance. (Only in Africa) my point being, if you can run a business here, you can run a business anywhere.

2006 – Increased our exclusive villa network, by asking owners to sign exclusive management contracts.

Started to Introduce Act CRM

Hired dedicated Reps to look after client interests.

Won a legal case brought about on me for breach of contract, by showing accurate complex financials which I had prepared.

2007 - Had record turnover of $500,000, further increased exclusive villa network, became undisputed industry leader.

Introduced “Customer Service Ratings”

2008 – Went to the Durban Travel Indaba and chose venues for a pan African project “The Leading Villas of Africa”, introducing Safari Lodges

Started to consolidate a business plan revolving around a tutorial computer game and a travel company to fit within the VIRGIN Group.

Designed and Printed “The Cape Villas Magazine” at a cost of $100,000, which was recouped from the venues included and additional bookings.

2009 - Distributed 22,000 copies of “The Cape Villas Magazine” with Conde Nast Traveller.

Bulgari called asking to endorse the next magazine.

Made substantial residual income from, up selling client Safaris.

Saw our highest single booking at $500,000.

Saw our first Major Celebrity stay for a month, without any press intrusion.

Attended “En Lighten” customer service and branding lecture and learnt about the new economic evolution “The Experience Economy”

Started by-monthly customer service and branding brainstorming sessions with “En Lighten” and came up with the Client Gift CRM idea.

Changed the concept of “The Leading Villas of Africa” to include all luxury accommodation and services across Africa, purchased the domain name www.ExperienceAfrica.com negotiated domain purchase from $8,000 to $1,800

Hired Africa’s 5th biggest accounting firm to advice on business in general and programme Pastel accounting correctly.

Cape Villas control all bookings for over 50 properties, and directly manage 25 Villas

November 24th Caitlin my fiancée gave birth to my only child Sienna Skye Ball

Costs rise to record high of $80,000 a month

Record Staff members at 38.

Awarded Conde Nast Traveller recommendation, “The highest recommendation it Travel”

2010 - Hoping to get the website complete before the FIFA World Cup, I divert all spare recourses into web development, research and content into the new “Experience Africa” Brand

Made a mistake in opening a dedicated Experience Africa shop, lost $40,000

Discovered Pastel Accounting was not appropriate for my business.

Discovered property management and the financial staff needed to deal with it's administration cost $250,000 (half of turnover), we should have outsourced whilst keeping booking exclusivity (Something the expert financial advisors should have advised, but did not as it would mean, we would not need them)

Scaled back all operations, I decided not to have such a high turnover business without the correct financial software, which meant making it myself.

Created a duplicate of the nearly complete Experience Africa website for Sotheby’s Realty, they start making bookings with us.

Run out of development money, just before www.Experienceafrica.com was finished. (No hotlist pages)

On August 1st my darling daughter Sienna Skye passed away aged 8 months.

Shunned by her mother, I left to stay with my parents in England for the first time in 10 years, leaving the business in the hands of my No.2 Oliver Van den Heever.

On my Return to Cape Town in mid October I was without the will to continue with Cape Villas and started working up to full time training in Mixed Martial Arts.

2011

January 2011

A back injury puts an end to my fledgling MMA career

I played FIFA Manager 2010 solidly for a month, took a 7th division team and won European trophy on the hardest level by concentrating on youth development and long contracts. I liked the easy way the administrative information was displayed, and envisioned a simple interface for the CRM and Financial software.

Considered the potential of duplicating the Experience Africa website on a mass scale and decided to finally write the business plan for VIRGIN, incorporating the Game, CRM, Financial software and the opportunity to make “The Global Distribution System”

February 2011

Started to commit ideas, to paper, this was the start of a 7 month process which has seen me add significant content every day save 4. Most days, evenings and weekends are completely committed to this business.

March 2011

Executive Summary to Virgin, mentions FaceBook in opening paragraph

Create detailed financials estimating a $150 Million 5 year return

Created a Financial Analysis (now reasonable), which estimated a $50 Billion, 5 year return if the software was adapted to other industries.

Wrote first version of, “Give Half Back” requesting 90% of all profits go to good causes.

March 18th 2011 - Sent Executive Summary, Financial Analysis & supporting financial documents, to the Head of Virgin Brands SA, (The advised route to get a proposal to VIRGIN BIG IDEAS, senior committee, London).

March 19th 2011 - Became very concerned about VIRIN SA, when I phoned Gavin Maering, the Virgin representative in charge of new proposals when he said “awwww it’s not long is it” in a whining manor.

Met with programmers “The Thought Factory” who has access to a bust VC $200 Million Virtual world for $10Milllion.

Wrote the first paper on S-World, Sienna’s World.

Created “Give Half Back” by simply deciding not to take any personal money, so allowing VIRGIN or other companies to trade without loss.

Sent proposal specifically for VIRGIN HOLIDAY’s incorporating the Free Magazines concept.

April 2011

April 6th. - The first “Economic Theory” was written, “The new 21st Century Economic Football Theory.” Based on my experience playing Fifa Manager 2010

Later I adapted it to create my second “Economic Theory” “The new 21 Century Experience Economy in 9 points.” (This was the basis for the FaceBook presentation Business Development Section)

April 7th - the Head of VIRGIN Brands SA phones me personaly to say, my plan has been approved and will be sent to London.

Sent “The new 21 Century Experience Economy in 9 points.” To Harvard Business School, for assistance, the theory suggested any company donating $1,000,000 to the Nelson Mandela Foundation would create a chain reaction and other companies would follow suit, which would make enough money to really make a difference in the world.

April 8th - I Write Movie Scripts, which describes building a new social network and connecting FaceBook to Battle Star Galactica then Star Wars.

I ask the Head of VIRGIN Brands SA to ask Sir Richard Branson to donate $1,000,000 to the Nelson Mandela Foundation.

09th April - I add the word Ecological to the “Economic Theory” to make “The New 21st Century “Ecological Experience Economy” (EEE). I further add 3 paragraphs at the end, the last is entitled “The Spartan Theory” and from that point on (EEE) is described as “The Spartan Theory”

April 11th Talks with VIRGIN broke down, I was not concerned, as it had become obvious that a software company should become the primary partner.

April 29th Wrote Galactica 2017 Film script, outlining “The Spartan Theory”

May 2011

May 2nd Wrote Galactica 2017 – Initial consideration off “String Theory” linking “The Spartan Theory” with “String Theory”

May 4th Wrote “The Theory of Everything” linking “The Spartan Theory with “The Theory of Everything”
Wrote to Mensa & BEA asking for assistance.

May 9th Wrote the breakthrough papers “3D Village” & “S-World 99 Questions Answered” which highlight “Teleport to GPS” & S-World Virtual Shopping Network.

May 15th Wrote the paper “Total Unilateral Nuclear Disarmament”

May 20th Wrote “The Auction of the BIG 16

May 28th Zenda (an assistant) declared we had enough to go to the big boys, Google, FaceBook, Twitter, Apple, Microsoft and Adobe. But we only had one contact that we knew would acknowledge a receipt, Louise my Google Add Words account manager.

May 29th Sent the S-World Plan at the end of this webpage http://www.s-world.biz/ (except Real Estate and Land Development paper) to Louise at Google, she passed it to New Ventures Ireland. (No response, I did not follow up, but it was lodged as sent, and as such I had a degree of Intellectual Property insurance.)

June 2011

Started to write the Bulgari Proposal for Experience Africa

Wrote landmark paper “Real Estate and land Development” which showed S-World Virtual World’s benefits within the industries.

Then on Saturday evening June 12th 2011 I saw “The Social Network” and dramatically changed direction from Google to Mark Zuckerberg & FaceBook.

The rest of my CV for June and July is best described in my now 300 page long journal “The Social Network 2” available on request (after some editing)

For the rest of my CV from late July and August, please look at my FaceBook CV and proposal http://www.s-world.biz/FaceBook/Business.htm
